Puppy Classes

Bring your puppy to our puppy classes from the day you get him - there is no need to wait for all inoculations to be completed. Held in a paved enclosure, our puppy classes teach you everything you need to know to help your puppy turn into a confident manageable puppy.

Pups get a chance to run free and socialise, get handled by other members of the class, learn obedience exercises in a fun way using treats and get to clamber over and through safe puppy size obstacles.

Class Times and Fees - Saturday afternoons

A commitment to weekly attendance of the classes will ensure you receive maximum benefit.

8 - 14 weeks 3.30pm R200

15 weeks to 5 months 1.30pm R200

5-7 months 2.30pm R200 *

* (This class is only for puppies who have attended at least one of our two younger puppy classes.)

You can sign up for all 3 classes in advance for a reduced fee of R500 or 2 classes for R350.

Pensioners pay half of above fees

How to pre-register

To ensure your place in the classes please download an application form and our bank details. Complete the form and email it with proof of payment to info@capeprovincedogclub.co.za or fax to 021 696 0336.

New pups join every week, these are classes not courses. There is no need to book. Pups must be under 5 months old on the day of joining.

If your puppy is over the class starting age, you can choose to join the balance of the class at the full fee or wait for the next class. (e.g. a 12 week old puppy can join the 8 – 14 week class or wait for the 15 week class).

If your dog is already 5 months old and you have not yet attended classes, you can join our Beginners Course for adult dogs (Click here for more information)

What to bring:

  • Your class fee or proof of payment.
  • A hungry puppy (do not give lunch)
  • A collar and a soft webbing or leather lead. No harnesses or chain leads please.
  • Tasty soft pea size treats e.g. chicken, cheese, viennas, dried sausage, biltong.
  • A poo bag to clean up after your dog

  What to wear:

  • Comfortable clothes which do not fall off when you bend over!
  • Skirts tend to get in the way of your puppy seeing your face so for ladies, pants are recommended.
  • A moon bag or pocket in which to keep your treats.
  • Closed non-slip shoes
  • A weather-proof jacket in Winter

Please note: Classes are never cancelled due to bad weather.

General Notes:

Children are welcome to observe the class but may only handle a puppy if over the age of 10. Anyone in the family may bring your puppy to class until he is 5 months old, thereafter it needs to be the same club member every week. Please do not bring your puppy to class if he has diarrhoea or Kennel Cough. (Kennel Cough sounds like your pup has something stuck in his throat.)

You will receive a certificate when you pass the assessment at the end of the 5 -7 month class. Once you have completed our Puppy Classes, you can become a member of our club and attend any of our other classes.
